One of my 2 "all-glass aquarium" PC 55 watt hoods died today. It was pretty old. I need a new ballast for it. Is this hood worth getting a new ballast or should I use this opportunity to upgrade to a new hood? Probably cost $40 to repair and $200 or so to upgrade. I was using 65 watt straight pin PC bulbs in it in hopes that it would not hurt it. I am not sure if the higher wattage bulbs did it in or not, oh well.
I did just buy 7 new 65 watt bulbs that can go into the other identical hood. I only paid $38 for all 7 so not too concerned if I have nothing to use them for if the other one burns out too - the new ones come with bulbs.
Suggestions?
