I`ve found a piece of toughend glass 7x4 and I have used it as my tank base. The hight is 26" .I must still add the bracing and was looking for some imput from you guys .I have used 3/8 (10mm) glass.

Some pix would be nice.

What kind of input would you like?

Standard euro bracing ....strip on each side and one center brace seem to work very well. Odd diamentions but you might be able to order a top and bottom rim from glasscages.com.

Your dealing with 454 G's of water hear, so you do not want any stuff ups. I suggest looking at other large tanks and seeing how they're braced.

I think I'd be a bit happier with 1/2 glass for that tank but you might be ok.

I looked around and it seems that 3/8 glass is normally used on tanks 26" hieght.I would have used 1/2 glass if I had gone any deeper.I was worried that it maybe difficult to reach the middle of the tank if I went deeper thats why only 26" deep

just to keep updated on this conversation ...
personally; I would be more inclined to get thicker glass.
That much water for me would be some BIG fish that could knock something
over into the glass an break it!

I think next year I may be cutting out my fireplace for a custom tank w/ ventilation (humidity control).
