Ive got a couple of questions for all you catfish guys out there. First of all I have a lima shovelnose, and i cant get him to eat anything other than guppies. I bought him around 7" and hasnt grown at all since then.

Anybody know of any special methods or tricks to get him on pellets?

Any past experience with limas?

What type of pellet food?

Also If its not too much of a hassle, if you got any pics of you limas tank setup it would be greatly appreciated!!:D
 
Mine was eating live feeders aswell when i got them both,it took a while but now they eat raw shrimp(they never would take pellets)they arnt the fastest growers either but a diet of shrimp and scallops helps also i hand feed mine(because they are kinda slow compared to my other cats,anyways here are mine....

TTT THanks that helps, i try some shrimp.

Im also going to try some bloodworms, and hikari carnivore today.
 
They also like to be with other Limas,they are pretty calm and laid back as far as Catfish go.But they are wicked good predaters so try not to have alot of smaller fish kept with it.

I would get some more limas, but there pretty hard to find around here, but i think theres one LFS that carrys them regularly.

Would more limas help it with its eating and confidence level?

Also, do you guys think that $20.00 is a bit much for around a 4 inch lima.

That seems about right ,,,between 15.00 and 25.00..
 
yeh i have one and i hardly see it eat but i see that it has cause his stomach bulges out...lol....must like the shrimp!!

ohh yehh...

sorry kinda OT

but......does anyone know know why they shed that clear mucus layer skin??
