So I saw several bagged river rocks at a local landscape supply store. One characteristic I have noticed is all river rock is smooth. I'm curious though is at all inert/aquarium safe? I'm no rock expert but tired of lfs high prices on this stuff. So I found one in particular that I liked called pocono river rock.. it was about 6 bucks for a 50 lb bag. Anyone know if this stuff is safe?

Yes I am In the sa/ca forum cause technically this would be for my big sa tank ;)

Just give it a good wash and you should be fine.

I use Delaware river rock in my tank no issues. You can test with white vinegar I think to see if the rock has buffering capabilities if it fizzes it does. I buy all my rock from my local rock supply place.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm going to buy a bag today to test. I like the delaware river rock too, that was my second choice so if this stuff fails I know I have a safe backup!
