i would LOVE to get an all white oscar, no orange what-so-ever.. is this called a certain morph? if so, what can i expect to pay for it? i actually saw one at walmart of all places, and then we got one in at work ( petsmart) and i LOVe how it looks.. however, i do not trust the health of walmart fish, regardless of how hot they look, and the batch of oscars we got in all have ick.

most ALL white Oscars only stay that way as jeuvies. As they grow, you'll see hints of orange start to emerge.

Best thing you can do is find an all white baby and hope for the best. They are simply known as Lutino Oscars.

There are Lutino Tigers and Lutino Reds.

The "Albino" you see at the store is not a true Albino at all. You wont find a true Albino Oscar.
If you do, that fish will be worth its weight in gold.

So you're just on the lookout for a Lutino Tiger Oscar with minimal to no visible orange. But thats no guarantee that it wont come out later on.

Good luck :)

i cant do it cus i dont have a tank big enough but this is like the 3rd thread on this and i'd love to see an mfker create an all white oscar by breeding lutions with little color untill the color disappears and create a new oscar

at what size will the orange start to show? the one i saw at work was about 3 inches and totally white..

I've seen quite a few all white juvis... I've never seen an all white Oscar over 6 or 7"...

wouldent a platinum oscar be considered all white?? or close enough anyway?

I would say oranges would start to emerge around 6-7". Thats normally when you'll see the adult coloration set in for good.

As for a Platinum Oscar, i have never seen one.

This site claims to have Platinum oscars. You could try emailing them to ask them about it.

my local pet smart has 'platinum's' in quite often! i got 2 recently, they are dead white with the black around their fins. i think they might end up like my lutino red, hes lovely still. he has the black around his fins.
saying that, my older brother has a 4 inch platinum and is still white at the moment with the black around the fins.

i'm in no rush to get it, i want to wait till i upgrade my tank size, but i'll be keeping an eye out for one just in case...
