Please post pics/info on your GTs! I have been doing a little research but am curious to hear from you. Im getting very interested in this fish for my future 75g and am thinking of providing an environment for only a small pair--to grow out and keep forever. Would love to see pics of different age/sexes and especially experience with these beautiful bad ass fish. Thanks in advance for your time!

Good choice;) They are my personal favorite. Mostly because my female is the first cichlid I've really bonded with. Yes, we have bonded. Haha

Not sure what info you are looking for. They are easy to keep. Not the best with other tank mates in my experience. Plecos can be tolerated. I haven't tried many dithers though.

I got my female at 1 1/2-2" this is a picture of her a day or two after bringing her home. And what she looked like a few months back. And a picture of her when she's spawning. IMG_0093.jpg 20170328_165813.jpg

And then I have my male. He is a wild caught. If I had to start over I'd definitely stick with wild caught over what my local pet store has to offer.
I got my boy a little over 2wks ago at 2". He is already grown 1/4-1/2" and bulked up. He also spawned with my female after only a week. The first pic was after bring him home and the other is from today. Sadly he has a little jaw issue due to a jack that was in the tank. She has been removed now.

These are all pics that are on other posts of mine on here.

I think they are great personable fish. My female is hand fed and will come to greet me. She is just awesome. My boy has yet to eat from my hand, but with time I think he will. :)

AWESOME. Thanks so much for your post and the comment about preferring WC. My LFS has a pair that are gorgeous, about 3" and spawning. But Im not ready for them yet and will continue to research and look for WC. I love that yours are growing quickly too. Thanks!

I just like how intense the color already is on my male. My girl wasn't nearly as impressive early on. So I have high hopes for my male. That's my main reason for wanting to stick with wild caught from now on. I have read they can be a lot more aggressive, but I don't think they are anymore aggressive then any line bred gts.

If you look at the other gt posts on here there are lots of stunning lfs gts on here. I'd try and name a favorite, but I drool over all the pics of the males posted on here. Haha

I think the only reason I'd say to pass on the already spawning pair is because the female will grow slower. I think the male would be fine. Mine has been growing well even with spawning with the female. My female was already over 5 1/2" when I added my boy, and she was already laying eggs without a male in the tank. So I'm not worried about her being stunted or growth being slowed down.
Just something to keep in mind getting a young pair.

But if you aren't looking to grow them as big as fast as possible then I'd say go for it:) If they are already beautiful, they will only get better with time.

here are a couple pics of my male White/Silver Saum. Bought him at about 2" the first week of December and he's probably pushing 4" now - but I haven't actually measured him, just a guesstimate. I received him in a group of wild caught Rivs, with one other White/Silver Saum (who I'm also now thinking is male...) and 5 Gold Saums.
I currently have him with 3 (hopefully) females in my 55g but am in need of an upgrade soon. a 75g might be slightly small for a pair, unless they are extremely well bonded... the breeding pair in your LFS might be a better bet than trying to obtain a WC pair to keep in a 75g, but every fish is different in regards to temperament

The more recent pics of my Male are from about 6 weeks ago... he's grown a bit since those photos and his trailers are really starting to stand out :D
