my gar hasn't been eating in almost a week. He is around 19-20inches long. I put some goldfish and a tadpole in the pond because I thought that maybe he had gotten tired of eating fish fillets. He killed the tadpole but didn't eat it. The goldfish are alive and he doesn't touch the tilapia. He seems happy and active during the evenings and night.

definitely nothing to be worried about from a starvation point of view. gars can go for a lot longer time without eating. as always check your water parameters first, if all that checks out it may just be going on its own fast.
