Do you think a 24" alligator gar would live in a pond with water turtleS?

Or would you think he would try to eat some sooner or later?

Hasn't been too aggressive, lives with other big fish and med fish, rarely will try to attack or catch.

Was thinking about building a new pond for my water turtles and thought about adding the gar.

My red-eared slider always follows around my 26" gator gar and harasses it. The gator gar has to swim around to evade the harassment. I have a feeling my slider has to pay for its naugtiness some day.

exactly as stated in some above posts...it's not the turtles that will be in trouble, it's the gar. turtles will definitely nip up and shred gar tank/pondmates so that combo is not suggested (Shedd Aquarium is a very good example of this issue) --

ya.. RES are very hyper and they are very noisy, some other turtle are also. But your RES will try to take a bit at the gar like all the other mfker have stated.. my bro picked up a common/musk turtle and it took out half of his population of fish including fast schooling one =).. but i suggest you not do so if you dont want ur gar to have nip fin or damage body.. one snap and your gar may be damage =(..

Wow, I'm surprised a Stinkpot would do that. I've kept and bred dozens of this turtle species and I've never had any issues with them and fish. It's one of the few turtle species I actually trust with fish due to their less-predatory/more scavenger nature. But I guess you can't trust them all.

well, that what we thought.. we lived him from a store because he was scarfed and never went into water.. so we picked him up and like 1 week later, he started to attack and eat the sick ones.. then he move on the healthy one and so on.. but for some reason, he cant catch the exidon.. i mean doesnt even bother it haha.. so i dunnoz i guess he like tetra that are pure silver?? haha .. so i dont know if we can trsut any turtle.. but i actualyl have a razorback musk in my tank and theres no problem.. so i guess he just act out of action =/

And I've seen (And assisted in treatment of) documented evidence of Pignose almost killing a 8,000.00 Gold morph Platyrhincus. There is no such thing as a safe turtle with a fish species.
