Alligator Gar Not Taking Feed

I have bought a gar fish yesterday...the farm keeper told me to feed him live worms....i have placed him in a 20gallon tank as of now.....and dont have tank mates too....i have tried to feed him molleys and guppies.....he came near the feed and moved away....i dint feed him yesterday....i want to bring up his nature....so dont wanna feed him blood worms....any suggestions or tips for the first time gar keeper??

Be patient. If you just got it yesterday it may take a few days to settle in and start feeding.
Just keep the water quality up and he will come around.
I would offer the live food just to get him going again.
I would recommend switching it over to some cut filets of decent quality, if you can. Healthier food source in the long run then live feeders.

Have you got a plan for this beast once it start getting huge?

Great start to an MFK-ship.

Are you the kind that learns firsthand the best or do you find yourself to learn well from others experience too?

The fish often don't feed right after the rehoming, it often takes days or even weeks sometimes.

I'd not feed it live feeders, no need whatsoever, and it is highly dangerous. Please read the corresponding stickie in this forum on feeding live.

In my book (not all agree) it is sadistic to the feeder too.
