Bump for an MD MFK'er
He's not asking for $75 for a 5 inch gar, he's asking 75 for a gar which is around 10-12 inches. He's saying that he bought it at 5 inches for $35 and now that he's grown it out to almost a foot, he'd like to get $75 for the fish.
Wholesalers always sell fish very cheap, because they sell them by the armload. If a wholesaler was selling directly to the consumer (you) they'd never make any money selling 5 or 6 gar at $3 a piece, but if they sell 50-100 at $3 a piece, they're making money and it's no longer their problem to sell them to the consumer, then the LFS will mark them up, and it's not unusual for an LFS to mark something up that high. Most retail items in a department store are marked up 600% from wholesale and that's just clothes, you don't have to feed them or keep them alive, much like you would for a fish. So you can't really compare wholesale prices to LFS prices or a price from a fellow MFK'er, while you might have access to wholesale prices, you're certainly in the minority and I envy you, thats for sure.
