Hey man. Iv got a 5inch gator gar & two Floridas of abt 6inches each. My problem is that the gator is gettin to the stage where he wants to eat the other fish in the tank. He leaves the Floridas but every now & then takes a bite out of the Dollars & Clown knife. He`s even taken a whisker off my 9inch shovel nose cat. My question is, can u mix other fish with gars or should they be by themselves.? They all in a 200 gallon at the mo. Pls let me know what u think.. Thanks.

Alligator gars tend to be solitary fish and aggressive in groups.

nice gator gar!

Mine has been fine with large slower moving cichlids, and a large oscar, but anything silver colored, or overly active he will strike, regardless of size.... I've never had the same problem with any FLA.'s I've had....... today he is by himself, as he finish's his growth to move in with some large Pacu, and Cats, I'm hoping he will be OK, if not, I guess I'll just have to buy and set up another tank, or maybe go right to the indoor pool
