alligator gar?

For an adult Gator you'll need a pond at least 5,000 gallons. you can expect one to grow at least 4-5 feet in captivity.

Why would you need 5000 gallons for a five foot fish?

Exactly. why 5000g for 5' fish?

yes. the fish got plenty of space in 5000g - if u can provide that much space

Though 1000g could be quite OK for long time

A pond big enough to hold a 5' fish... I'm in the process of setting up a 17' steel frame pool that's 4' deep
