Hey MFK anyone using almond tree leafs to induce breeding for cichlids?

Also does anyone buy them regularly for breeding ? Any tips or positive experiences using them?

I use oak leafs for substitute works wonders on getting my blue rams to breed.

i'm using it to soften the water ..don't know bout the breeding part ... but good info to know

When your water gets softer does your ph change ? I know the softer the water the less quantity of dissolved minerals. But I don't fully understand soft/hard water and its relation to ph.

Hmm thats cool. I wonder if it would have the same effect on bigger cichlids. Festae, umbee, vieja, etc...

I dont see why not?...best of all you can get tons for free this time of year and they would not hurt at the least. ...but i get the same water readings and breeding results with them as i did with the almond leafs...way cheaper too.
