I was sitting home the other night when I heard a loud pop sound come from my 55 gal. salt water tank. Didn't think much of it until I looked over and saw the sides starting to bow out. What had happened was the piece that holds the back and front had snapped and I think it was just a matter of minutes before the tank gave way and emptied onto my living room floor. Has this happened to anyone else here or is it just my luck?

Held it together as best I could while I was empting water and live rock into containers. Thank God my father lives close so I sent him to the lfs and had him buy a 65 gal. to transfer everything over to. I will admit the 65 is much cooler than the 55 was.

you must live right....I would have never been home if it happened to me...my luck is not that good....everybody make the move ok?

I have heard of this happening before. The piece that broke is called a "Stress Bar". When the aquarium is full of water, these bars are under tremendous pressure. I often inspect mine, just to be on the safe side.

luck you were home as said before. I have heard of this happening. never seen it before, well with water in the tank anyways. let us know how the move went/

Everybody seems to be doing fine so far. Fish dont seem stressed at all. I think they like the new tank better they are out in the open more swimming around.

wow i want to see pics lol

My camera doesn't take very good pics but here are a couple of the new tank. I am going to be adding more rock and mushrooms in the near future.
