yesterday, I removed my fry from the parents, and put them in a divided 20 long. On one half is three small firemouths and a mystery snail, and on the other the fry and a mystery snail. I spent a few hours acclimating them to the new tank. before i went to bed, everything was fine. I put 97 fry in that tank last night, and this morning I check it to find only three. I don't see any bodies of dead fry anywhere, I double checked the divider and there's no gap between the divider and the glass, and the fry are too large to swim through the divider. Also the firemouths don't look like they had much of a feast lately.

I've no idea what happened. did they all die last night, and the snail ate them?

That really does suck.

I'm not sure what you're breeding (I know probably in a former post that I missed) but I know that Koi will canabalize their bros and sistas if they are a little bigger and can do so. Just a thought...

they are dempsey fry. Divider is plastic, full of tiny holes. It's one of those lees dividers. I modified it in such a way st that it would have a solid grip on both sides of the tank.

I found out what happened.

I pulled a piece of driftwood for the babies from one of my other tanks. turns out my raphael catfish was hiding in the driftwood.
