Almost burned down the house.

I always had problems with this one specific lamp and I turned it on a while before bed. I kept hearing a faint buzzing sound while in the bathroom and instead of ignoring random sounds like I normally do I went and found it. Apparently the plug in on the lamp was starting to burn itself and had I went to sleep like I normally would have the house might have caught on fire.

Years ago when we still had toddlers we were leaving the house to run errands(iirc). The wife decided to go back in and do a last minute house check. She found a rubber doll in a lamp in one of the kids rooms. The child was playing hot tub with the doll. The doll was already charred and had she not checked the house we would have been homeless.

There has to be someone on mfk, past, present, or future, who at least caught a small fire in their house. I thought I was just an idiot but from the looks of it this happens pretty frequently. Makes me wonder how they make those lamps.
