I was moving my 10-11 female marble motoro to her new tank . I didn't feel like using a garbage bag (since the tank is 30 inches high and my arms arent built like Scotty Pippen's) so I used a large styrofoam box instead.

Friend helped me by shooing the ray so that it would swim in the direction of the box. After 1 try, she took the bait and had majority of her disc in the box I quickly lifted the box so that the motoro can slide in. Problem was the tail was long so it stuck out of the water.

All of a sudden the tail started to whip in our direction! Lol it certainly got my blood pumping.. Good thing my friend and I were able to move the motoro to the rubbermaid container without being stung.

I can never stress this enough , always be careful when handling and being around rays.. always watch the tail !

That story has me scared to move mine now.... whens the new addition coming....word is you got your pm in seconds before me.. wasn't quick enough on the draw..

Its not big of a deal to move rays. The relative ease of it is what makes the rays more deadly. People like me didnt pay much attention to them as they are not aggressive.

For small rays nets and garbage bags work best for me. Bigger ones, i use a net to coax the ray into a styrofoam box or any container then i move it out of the water.

Sorry if i outdrew you.. but im pretty sure David will have more coming in. Im not done as i want more black rays.
