Aloha guys, I'm from Honolulu, Hawaii and glad to be a member of your group. I am the proud mother of a Giant Albino Gourami named Big Ben. Got him about a year ago from a bar owner friend of mine. Ben has basically been raised in the bar and for about 4 years prior to me adopting him, I have visited with him on a weekly basis. Its kinda weird, we have always had this weird thing, I just love the **** out of him! Excuse my language. Anyway when I got him, my friend was feeding him just lettuce and some pellets every day. Well, I was searching the internet, might have been on this site I read someone also had a Giant Albino Gourami and said theirs loved strawberries and banannas. Well I tried to give him some and I know its not very healthy,but that is now his daily diet. And did I mention, he is hand fed this about 3 times a day? He is just like a dog. I pet him on his head and he just loves it. He is so adorable. Never ever thought I'd have such a loving bond with a fish! Anyway he is currently housed in about a 100 gallon which is what I got him in. I am looking for a new or fairly new 300 gallon acrylic setup for him. I know nothing really about this kinda stuff so I'm hoping that you guys can inform me about everything that I need to keep a clean low maintainance, healthy new home for him. With his diet I am currently cleaning the tank every other day, it takes so much of my time , I run a hose to the kitchen sink and drain it half way then fill it back up-and repeat the process about 4 or 5 times till his water is clear again. MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS! Your advice and input would be so greatly appreciated by us! Thanks for your time!
