Hey there! Well done on choosing to keep fish. It is really rewarding. Frustrating at times, but great. What type of fish would you like to have? Would you like to have a community tank, a chichlid tank, a tank with oscars and other enormous fish or would you like a predator tank? Before we can help, you should decide what YOU want and what fish YOU want to keep. :D

yee gods !!! its a small world with you in south africa init fella!! off to get my set up noted and some ideas of what i want to keep together now, should be back with more detailed post soon as . . .take care . . .the devil is watching . .

If this is you first time having a fish tank, then I would recommend getting this book. It is awesome for beginners and will help you with setting up your tank, maintenance regimes and what to do when your fish get sick. It's called The Perfect Aquarium by Jeremy ***. It's on Amazon.co.uk, here's the link:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perfect-Aquarium-Complete-Setting-Maintaining/dp/0600612163

I have the book and it really helped me when I was unsure of what I was doing. Just check it out. Another book by the same author is Choosing The Right Fish For Your Aquarium, which will help a lot once you have set up and matured your tank before you add fish. The link for this book:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Choosing-Ri...2380704?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1192711335&sr=1-9

Don't worry about the second book's cover, the book is mostly about tropical fish. But definitely get the first book dude. This guy knows a lot about fish. :D
