In search of Leiarius
I got this large piece of driftwood that would fit in my tank, but i would want it slanted, would i be safe in leaning it against a side or in a corner

tank is acrylic 3/4 inch thick on the sides, and top and bottom is 1/2 inch thick.

the driftwood is three feet long, and a solid 6 inches thick.

here it is with tape measure

Here it is in the position i want it in my tank

ignore the date and my foot.

it wieghs about 25 - 30 pounds as is, before being wet.

I was also thinking of cutting it down on one side to about 28 inches. Creating a flat bottom that can then be placed on the bottom of the tank.

this would simulate a tree trunk in my tank, i may even do some carving on it to make it look like has a hollow base.

personally, i would keep it flat if i was going to use it in one of my tanks; looks more natural, when it comes to a piece like that. however, that's just my personal preference..

if i were to use it in the corner, i would some how wedge it there with rocks and/or more wood and cover it with fake or real plants. i think that would look real nice!

Not to get into whether structurally this would be a good idea, every time I had anything against a tank wall that is where the algae would be, with no way to clean it off.
Right under it would be a dead spot that would collect debris and would be hard to get at for cleaning.
Rockwork, decor placed too close to the glass has the same problem.
