I have an Oscar, and two EBJD's, all of whom are now basically at their full size. I have been feeding them small pellet meals, 3x per day for the past two years. I have read that once they reach adulthood, Cichlids should only be feed once per day, or even every other day. What are your suggestions?

I feed my adult fish once a day with no feeding on Tuesdays.

I agree with once per day, with a day off per week.
I also leave town fairly regularly, and my fish get breaks where they are not fed from 3 to 10 days.
Just got back from Panama, and my fish were not fed for 9 days, I returned to healthy, yet hungry fish. In nature there are natural periods where fish will have forced fasts, and have evolved to live in this manner.
Just as with humans, being over fed, may be more unhealthy than under fed.

Many of the speakers that we have had over the years at CCA meetings have recommended feeding only 4-5 days a week. In nature, it is supposed that fish work harder for less nutrition than they need to do in our tanks. Overfeeding high nutrient food, like many hobbyists tend to do, leads to fish who are over weight. Over weight fish live shorter lives.

I usually feed 5 days a week, switching around the days off depending on my schedule. Juveniles and fry get fed every day. I haven't witnessed any detrimental effects on my fish.
