Glasscages has some really good deals and from what I can tell, a decent reputation. Unfortunately, if I want anything of any size worth buying from them, the shipping is nuts, and they don't deliver anywhere near where I am. Anyone know of an alternative tank manufacturer or distributor in the Vancouver BC/Washington state regeon? I'm more than willing to haul the thing a couple of hundred miles if need be, but $1000+ on shipping is a hard pill to swallow (although it'd still be cheaper than most LFS' prices).

I was looking at 8 foot tanks like glasscages 300 wide. Tough to beat 300gallons with oak stand, canopy, overflows, lids, bulkheads, and starphire glass for 2500 bucks.

Oh and DIY isn't an option here. I'm developing a contingency plan in case I have to move - I don't want to spend a few months building a tank so I can set it up in the new place before I move.

They are nice, but there have been reports that their larger tanks seem to have problems later on in life.

I have had a few GC tanks and various sizes I have never had a problem with any of their tanks. however their stands and canopies are pretty shoddy in my opinion. (stands are sturdy but not that nice really. and the doors can be hard to open sometimes if they are not cut just perfect. The canopies are ok but they tend to get loose around the doors and start to fall apart after a while. )The tanks are very sound from my experiences.

when I first started buying from them they only advertised in the local classifieds and charged only $1.00 a gallon for them.

They really want 1000 for delivery????????????/

Does it have to be 300?

If 210 is 'good enough' (grin), it's still considered a standard size and still cheap through LFS that carry AGA, and no shipping charges. I wanted a huge tank as well, but finally 'settled' for a 210 after getting all the quotes for 'custom' builds.

If your interested, I got mine in WA from Blue Sierra, overflows, drilled, with tax for 2/3rds of your shipping quote. Didn't include the stand, but couldn't be happier with the tank (and store).

I too have heard that GC's larger tanks develop problems later in life. That's not too good considering that is where I planned to get mine. Can't remember whether it was glass or acrylic or even if the rumors are true. Such rumors could destroy a company...
