Is this because it is the dominant fish in the tank? I have a group of 12 and when one fish is trying to become the dominant one they are getting dark streaks. A few days ago one of the smaller aggressive ones had it and now the biggest one is being more aggressive and is showing the streak.

Hard to get a picture its moving so fast.

Closest thing I was able to find was a Geophagus altifrons 'Nhamunda'. The picture I saw had two spots (not including the midlateral spot) where yours has a solid stripe. That could be one whose stripe hadn't filled in or it could be a different harvest location.

Thanks for the response, but I think it has to do with aggression or the pecking order. There are two of them that get this coloring but they only display it when its feeding time. Otherwise they look exactly like the other ones.
