They don't get that big (5-6 inches). The tank size will depend on how many you want.

Well there are a lot of different species...lol which have different temperaments and such.

Calvus males get around 6 inches

The one you have put up I have never kept. Sorry can't help you on that species.

Those are the little tiny shellie ones. I
I've always wanted some but have found them difficult to find. I believe Mike Dunagan has some. You could ask him about their care.

Alright. I have a 30 that isnt being used at the moment and i would really like any kind of altolamprologous. What kind could go in a 30?

Shellies can go in a 30 fine. They are not as large, but I think a little more agressive than the other types. The shellies are harder to find. Mine jumped the tank after a move. So I am the lookout for some new ones. I have most types of comps and calvus. I keep them in a 125.
