Can anyone recommend some tank mates for my newly acquired pair? They are going to live in a 55G to start.

(male is fully grown)

Helpful....very helpful.....:clap

Honestly best advice with these guys. You will be able to trade and sell the fry easily.

If you can get successful at breeding these guys they will go for some decent money. Plus Calvus have cool personalities especially in an all Calvus tank.

!!!

We have a Breeding tank hee hee hee, and are we ever excited about it! :nilly:

But we also have a couple of Tanganyikan display tanks starting up that we would like to put the over flow plus a few of the larger males that we cannot bare to part with!!!

We know that in smaller tanks (couple of 55G) that calvus and Shellies may cause some.....issues...But we are worried about our Brichardis mostly,
and the cleaner crew to assemble...???

=D

(sorry for misinterpretation)

Yes, must move the Brichardi into their own setup. You can easily keep dwarf cyps with a group of calvus in 55 btw. Even if you want to breed them. You'd do well to remove the fry (Calvus fry) once their free swimming anyway because the parents will eventually eat them.

So, if you don't want to, there is no reason why you couldn't keep a second species in your calvus setup.
