Isla Taboga Panama via Milwaukee
Picked these Geophagus iporangensis juvies up at the local fish club auction back at the end of March.
They are barely over 2", yet must have spawned a week or 2 ago, because I discovered free swimming fry today. The pair took over half a 55, and have been defending the area from a pike cichlid, and a Paratilapia andapa, both twice there size, although I had wondered why the pike was very fay between feedings.

What type of pike is it ?? A dwarf ??

It's a fairly small male "belly crawler" been growing it out separately from my female that is twice his size.

Bet the andapa was also getting his fair share of fry too, think there are only about 10 fry left in the tank.

By the way, fay is supposed to read fat, in my first post of the thread.

Wow! Those are some tough adversaries to guard against. Especially for a pair of 2 inch parents...

I agree, the tank is unlit, and the only reason I noticed the fry was because the fearless way the pair were defending half the tank against their much larger tankmates.

Very cool!!!!
