I did some heavy trimming on some steam plants in my 35 hex Sunday.

I lay out all the trimmings in a shallow tub with tank water, because I have shrimp in the tank and one or two always end up in the trimmings.

To make a long story short, I only went through the trimmings one quick time (pulled out an amano shrimp), then tossed the plants in the garbage, along with my two flower shrimp!

I'm so upset, they were my favortie shrimp in the tank. They always hide in the same rock cave during maintince, and they are pretty big (3 inches each). I just never saw them in the plants.

After not seeing them in the tank since Sunday, I turned crazy and opened up the garbage bag from that night. Sure enough, two bright red dead frozen shrimp right on top on the trimmings. :(

How could I have missed them! I feel sick! DH said I can just go get more, but the point is I tossed my pets in the garbage! They died because of my stupidity and rushing trough maintince.

Damn, sorry about your loss.

sorry about your loss =( That always stinks when that happens. Just make sure you go through them all and everythings in the tank next time!

Thats the worste. My friend and I were cleaning his 20 gal. nano reef when something like this happened. He was pruning these red plants (some type of kelp?) and putting the cuttings in a bag. I was messing around with the plants, looking at all the little organisms on them, when I felt something moving in my hand. It was on of his little seahorses (a little pink pygmy). It must have got caught in the plants and got pulled out. I put it back in the tank and it swam right to the plants it got pulled out on.

My mother threw out my favorite onamental tarantula a while ago. It was a baby in a little deli cup, and she tossed it. I was a little angry. :swear:
