I am a recruiter, and I am sick and tired of being given the wrong info on the jobs I am recruiting on. It could be the wrong location, pay rate, or benefits info. I really hate going back after offering someone a job and telling the candidate that I the pay rate has changed or I can't offer what I quoted at first.

1. It makes my company and I look stupid.

2. It is unfair to the candidate.

3. Candidates bail out and I get penalized for it. It affects my monthly placements. I don't reach my goals so I can't earn as much or could get fired.

I expressed my concerns to my boss, but she could care less. What is the best way to handle this?

New job?

Office politics can be a real mess. people get jelous of a promoted employee or feel threatened by a newcomer. even your boss can dumb you down in front of his/her superiors to make themself look good. If it's your boss giving you the wrong info there is little you can do about it unless you can confidentially reach out to someone above your boss. It is a risk though. If it's coming from the HR department , find out who it is and have a normal , polite talk with them. If you don't trust this person is going to come through , take some initiative and come up with a study for set packages WITH that person. Use "WE" more than "I" in your language , make it sound like you care about the company not yourself. Pass the study on to the right channels , make sure you and the person messing up the package info gets noticed with you even if you're the one doing the work. If the higher ups take notice and give you both a nod , you'll be in their good graces on one side , and the other guy will have your back and give you what you need w/o hiccups or headaches on the other. That's how I'd handle it. even if your a hard worker , you need to solidify your office relationships. It's a "I scratch your back , you scratch mine" world

hope it helps

That is what I want to do, but jobs are hard to come by. It is hard to make a career change too. I have a bachelors in HR, but can't get into that either.

My wife is an HR coordinator for a venture capital & asset management company. She deals with the same garbage & its usually just the bosses wheeling/dealing & then she has the unfortunate job of telling the recruiter that the deal has changed. She then has to back her bosses up to keep them happy...
