Always use a GFCI outlet where you keep a fish tank, or you may have a "shocking" revelation.

The tank just happened to leak in the exact spot of the outlet...had 4 feet of tank to leak and it picked directly over the outlet...I was lucky that time no fire and I didn't get shocked but it was sizzling and crackling quite nastily...not something you want to come home to after 12 hours of work.

That suxx....:irked:

I can see your pain.. I am waiting on a surge protector/timer. It seems attaching it to the wall and using the "loop" of the cords.

As a suggestion try finding a surge protector that has sliding covers for the outlets not in use.. However a real GFI would be best..

Yah a covered surge protector would help to though I didn't know they made them but then again they seem to make just about everything these days.

Details...?

Was it water or overloading the circuit?

GFCI do not protect from overloading the circut. They protect from ground faults.
