I was wondering if anyone here has owned a bird of prey/ practiced falconry?

Not me but my dad has a friend who has a Harris Hawk that he uses to hunt with. He also has an old retired Red-Tailed Hawk.

evidently they take years to train, i talked to my bio professor last year he said his budy spent a bunch of time and money on training one. took it out for the first time and a bigger hawk came by and took it

theres a falconary place by were i live with sea eagles, vultures, hawks ect.

I worked with several birds of prey when I volunteered at the Columbus Zoo a while ago. Everything from screech owls and an American kestrel up to an Eagle Owl and Bald Eagle. My favorite was the Harris Hawk, but she was mean. For some reason, she really disliked men-especially with beards-and would scream repeatedly at them until they left her sight

i never knew the average person could own one. i just assumed, due to the birds stature, only spcially licenced people could handle them.

i always wanted a killer bird like that lmao, be cool to have one but i really dont know if you have to buy a cage or something, or like let it free roam and eat the neighbors cats
