So I've had these guys for a while the 2 bigger I got from a friend (along with a third not pictured) when she was going through a divorce and the ex wouldn't take his tank with him so she brought it to me and let me have it...anyway one has always looked a little different then the other 2. I'm not sure if that one is just more stressed then the others or what but his color has always seemed off and I was going to post a while back but never did so I figure I may as well do it now while I'm thinking about it. So the first pics will be the guy in question (Norton)...then I have "Jack" who was my first JD, and "George" is the biggest. Those two I know are Jacks but was adding shots of simply for comparison.

It's definitely a Jack. Jacks tend to get lighter in color when stressed or also depending on their environment (i.e. substrate color, etc.). Given the colors of the other two, I would say that the first guy is a little stressed out. The others may be harassing him from time to time, or it could be that the water quality is different than what he's used to.

Ok, all males eh? Well, I'll have to get a pic of my other if he ever comes out that one hides alot....his name is "Hagler" btw....LOL!

If one is female it is the lightest one...Markings were not very visible in the pics...Shape looked more male to me...

all are jack dempsys the first 3 pics are the same fish right it interesting i'm pretty sure its male but i'v never seen one that had that little color usually they look like the bottem 2 pics but the mouth and the gill plates make me say male but body color says female but i'd say you have all males

my JD I just picked up looks just like the one in your first three pics and for some reason he gets darker when he's stressed out

You're becoming quite the monster keeper LG!
