am I a Tetramerus???

Hi , I bought this fish some time ago, it was labeled as Aequidens Tetramerus.... last week a friend said that it wasn't a tetramerus, that it is a cichlasoma portalegrense or a c. bimaculatum.....can you help me please to know the identity of this John Doe fish??? .....thank's a lot. bye

The fish is either a tetramerus or a bicmaculatum and as they both look very similar it is hard to tell the apart.

i would go with tetramerus if thats what they were sold as. The bimaculatum does appear slighlty different with a more pronounced strip through they eye..

How long ago did you get it. I seen bimacs most recently. I have tetramerus in a few yrs. nice fish though. either species is a nice addition. Are those facetums in the background?

Hi, thanks a lot for all the answers .....well, this guy is 15 months old and 6 inches size.....I've never had c.portalegrense or bimaculatus before so I don't really know them, but I had 4 tetramerus before. And I've been searching for pics of this 3 fishes and they look similar ....the only diference that I can see between this fish and the tetramerus I had before is that this guy is more agressive...much more agressive than other aequidens I have/had (goldsaum/silversaum, a.pulcher)....this guy kick the a** of a big male texas, a paired couple of goldsaum and a same size JD ....
The other fish in the pics, is not a facetum, is a green sunfish (I know is not a cichlid, but was a gift from my little niece and I couldn't said no ). Thanks for all.

Hey there, i do think it is Aequidens Tetramerus, and its not weird of it being aggressive cause they are in the aequidens family and are cichlids soooo you cant tell how theyll act over other tankmates, but to be honest with ya, he is way too aggressive for being a Tetramerus anyway, nice fish dude keep us inform on how he goes and oct over other fishies, this fish have a hell weird attittude anyway NICE lol
