Ok I bought 2 beautiful Motoro pups ( M/f) from Ichban tropical fish ( Jo Jo) a couple days ago and they arrived perfect , both had a little redness to their under belly but not bad and they ate black worms with in 2 hours of arrival and both was very active ( I was pleasantly surprised ), I forgot to mention I do not have lighting on this tank .

So I did a water change yesterday and like always I vacumed the sand , to get rid of all theri poo I am keeping them by themselves in a 90 and I have a Fluval Fx5 for filtration plus I have a air pump going to the tank also , So here is where I am concerned right after the waterchange I noticed the female was covering herself with sand , I thought ok no biggy shes a little stressed from me messinng with the tank so I woke up today and shes in a different spot but still burried , when I fed she stayed buried till I walked away from the tank about 15 feet or so then she came out ate and Right after buried herself again!!!!

So now I am nervous as a longtailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs thinking somethings wrong !!!

I keep their tank in the bedroom and I keep the light off , hoping her stress level would go down and shed get comfortable with everything again , I am very worried though and I don't know if I am being paranoid or if their is anything wrong .

Tested the water and it is perfect, temp is 80 degrees

Please anyone chime in and give some advice to a newbie ray keeper , would post pics but the camera is not working right , took some and everyone of the pics is coming out very pixled and jumbled and mis colored ... Time for a new one , but that will have to wait a little bit.

I forgot to mention that the redness has drastically reduced in the couple days they been in the tank

Prolly just getting use to the new house. I wouldnt worry as long as she is eating. Give it some time.
Id say yes u r being a tad paranoid

She ate. That's absolutely key.

Probably just adjusting to the new home and new schedule and when she's used to you and used to water changes she won't be bothered for so long. I have a male Motoro who buries during water changes, no idea why I've had him almost 2 years but it's just what he does.

Just keep up with testing the water and make sure she's eating - good water and a ray that's eating is 95% of keeping a ray.

ok good deal , now I am starting to feel better.

Also forgot to add the male is doing great still very active and will actually come to the side of the tank and beg for food ! and when I was vacuming he would literally swim up to the "tube" and watch what I was doing very intently

Care for your rays but dnt over care it will mess up your head and stress you out.

That is a good point , I will work on that, its just wanting some for Years and finally decided that it was time to get some , so now I am just being over cautious :-) Now that I do see that I can try to change that . :-)

I will, I am hoping I will get a new camera next week end .

My in laws kinda freaked out when they found out about the stingrays lol
afraid that someone would get stung , so now after talking to them more about stingrays they
are slowly starting to like them and has been wanting to see some pics also ( they live in a different state ) so my wife
was saying this morning how we should get a new camera :-) which is great cause now the money isn't coming out of my fish budget lol :-)

Just went in the bedroom and checked on them and she was unburried !!
I gave them a little snack of black worms , so they are going to town on them :-)
what a releif!!! Thanks to everyone who responded :)
