Hi Guys I have A 50 gallon salt tank had it up cycling for 4 and a half months and finally decided to add a fish my choice was the damsel since i heard they were hardy fish. But 5 days later he began to show signs of ill and died the next day. Im I doing something wrong? adding fish to early? i had it up for 4 months have heater filter and skimmer live sand rocks everything. can somebody help me?

list your water parameters. and during those 4 months did you have fish in the tank or some sort of an ammonia source? if not thats your problem

My water levels are as follows. 0.00 Ammonia

0 Nitrite
8.2 PH
1.024 Salinity
0 Chlorine

i aslo tried another fish thinking it was just the damsel that was sick , Got the fish home acclimated them to the tank as follows. Put them in a small pail and added about a half cup tank water to them and waited about 15 minutes. added another half cup water to the pail and waited another 15 minutes. After that I put the fish in the tank. Within 45 minutes they it dead.

i tried adding fish but they end up dieing so i waited a couple months with the same result

do a 50% water change. and add all the salt and such and add cheap fish you need to have an ammonia source in order to get the tank cycled

With live rock and live sand, shouldn't that have been just about an instant cycle?
