Hi:hitting: I was reading about how to breed Silver Dollars and I am getting alot of mixed sugestions. I was told to lower the water level but then wread they spawned in the rainy season:screwy: I wread that they scatered their eggs everywhere someone else to me they lay their eggs on floating plants..... So this is what I did. I have 7 pretty muhc adult Silver Dollars in a 85G tank with a small Kissing fish and some Snails. I lowered the water and added some random plastic plants in their to float. I also thruw some lettuce/greens for them to much on. My room temp is about 80F. Will I get any results this way? H

Here is my set-up:

Z are you talking about water temp or water level?

Both:confused:...

I will take out a bucket of water today and add one that is super cold with ice cubes to see if it sparks their interest.

The smallest SD being about 4" and the largest just under 7"(this thing is a TANK!).

I wouldn't add super cold, just cool. Put it in a watering can and add it slowly a few times a day. Just lowering the water level isn't going to magically make them breed, it might take time, keep at it though, and they will.

i used to have 3 adult silver dollars in a community tank 2 of them always shimmied next to each other but there were never any eggs or fry and it at a heat of 79 and is 18 inch deep

Ye the kissers will definetly be a problem i could imagine.
Just leave the dollars in their by themselves?
