I have a 120-liter aquarium with one gourami, nine neon tetras, five five-banded barbs, three armored catfish, and five Amano shrimp. Several fish have died in the past, and I wanted to ask if my feeding plan looks good.

I feed Pro JBL NOVO TABs and TetraMin crisps from Tetra. I also feed red mosquito larvae as frozen food. You can see the amounts of food in the photo. When I feed frozen food, I only use 1/4 of a cube.

This is my feeding plan: “Mon: Crisps + 1 tablet, Tue: Frozen food, Wed: Crisps + 1/2 tablet, Thu: Slightly more crisps, Fri: Frozen food, Sat: Crisps + tablet, Sun: Nothing.”

I would really appreciate it if someone knowledgeable could evaluate this feeding plan. Thank you in advance.

Welcome aboard.
The food your feeding is ok but I would add a flake food to the rotation for the barbs and Cardinal Tetras.

Hello; i calculate this being around a 30 gallon tank. Stocking density seems decent, not too many fish for the tank. If the plants are live such is a good thing.

I am not familiar with the foods mentioned nor the size of the coin so cannot judge based in that. The foods pictured look alright. A way to get an idea about foods is to check the analysis of the content if the labels have such.

I agree with tlindsey about the flake foods.

Offhand my guess is you are not overfeeding, but overfeeding is a common issue with those new to the hobby. Probably the single most common mistake I have seen. There are rules of thumb fish keepers use such as feed only enough so the food is eaten in ten minutes.

A thing i observed decades ago was my tanks looked better when i came back from a long weekend trip. I had been overfeeding for years. I now tend to feed less in general, and I also have one or two days a week with no feeding at all.

Good luck and the tank looks good.

A euro coin has a diameter of approximately 2.3 cm.
Here is the list of ingredients for the crisps: Composition: fish and fish by-products, cereals, vegetable protein extracts, yeast, mollusks and crustaceans, oils and fats, algae, sugar. Analytical constituents: crude protein 46.0%, crude fat 12.0%, crude fiber 3.0%, moisture 8.0%. Additives: vitamins, provitamins, and chemically defined substances with similar effects: vitamin A 30650 IU/kg, vitamin D3 1915 IU/kg, L-carnitine 125 mg/kg. Trace element compounds: E5 manganese 69 mg/kg, E6 zinc 41 mg/kg, E1 iron 27 mg/kg, E3 cobalt 0.5 mg/kg. Colorants, preservatives, antioxidants.
And these are the tablets: Composition
Salmon meal; tubifex; wheat flour; wheat germ; soy flour; rice flour; shrimp meal; krill meal; wheat gluten; spirulina; yeast extract; squid meal; apple fiber; spinach
I can't do anything with that, unfortunately.
And yes, the plants are real, and thank you very much.

Hello; Your foods match well with my TetraMin flakes & Omega One freshwater flakes with regard to the labels.

Allow me to open a can of worms. I sometimes cook canned peas or frozen peas for my dinner. I often take a spoonful of the peas straight from the can and feed them to the fish. I usually have a paper towel on my hand. I squeeze the peas so that the inside (guts) of the pea erupts into the water and try to rub the empty skins onto the paper towel. No real matter if the skins get into the water, just takes a while for them to breakdown. Your catfish may take them. The issue is some on this site argue strongly that the peas have no nutritional value. may be so but the fish like them.
The pea guts are also good foods for newly hatched fry if you ever try breeding fish.

Another disputed food is bits of fish filets. I have minced up small bits of catfish and/or salmon flesh to feed to my fish. I used to keep a small piece of glass and single edge razor blade handy to cut the flesh into very small bits for fish as small as the tetras you have. I would then cook the rest to eat myself.
The argument against this is the meat may not be free of pathogens or parasite eggs. I see the point. I got away with this for decades. But I take extra care to wash my hands after handling fish for my meals and also cook it well so have not done this in a while.

Yes, I also already fed peas and other vegetables but the fishes only ate peas, but then I read, that this could be bad for fish and I don't know how to include this to my feeding plan.
Do you think the amount of food is good for my fishes?

Hey
I dont think you overfeed. If i would sugest something, it would be to stop using frozen foods. They have no nutritional benefit, and if they have gotten defrozen while transported to the fish store it can lead to food poisening in your fish. Just like human food can get bad if its defrozen and then frozen again.
I also see no reason to start using flake food if your fish seem to like the food you are using. I stopped using flakes years ago just because its so messy compared to many other foods.

I can also add that you dont need to overthink feeding. Feed your fish a food they like and dont overfeed. Also a good idea to not feed everyday like you do now. And there is usually no need to have many different foods. Since most food contain what the fish need.
Fish can die from many different reasons and it can be hard to find out why. But if you dont overfeed its probably not the feeding plan that causes it, unless some of the frozen food you have fed have been bad
