Hey guys I have an Idea but its insane completely insane! I'm in Southern California and I want to try my hand at cero or Spanish mackerel does that sound crazy to you guys??? Maybe not but I'm determined to keep them I know this is an apex predator and is constantly moving like a yellowfin tuna but size is not an issue would it be possible I've kept greenbacks and diff Californian species with success but that's totally different and the tank will be heated. Would shipping be an issue could it survive overnight shipping across the country would anyone in Florida be able to collect a few for me I would be willing to pay a lot for them I am also looking for sheepshead tripletail

I've been after a few Tripletail for years now.Good luck with the mackerel.

upon a lil google search of the mack doesn't seem too crazy, just make sure it has a varied diet and if its WC try to get it on dead foods when still kind of young.. gets much harder as they get older (my own mistake w/ my fish)

i can catch em but idk how how well it would do shipping... even ap to ap id be skeptical

I would say forget it.

Yes. It's a bad idea. Leave that fish in the ocean. It's a fast swimming open water species that grows to 30"+; it will not do well in your 40G.

LOL....40G.

Lol thanks guys I knew there was gonna be one person who had to make a remark as on every thread I'm aware of how big pelagic this fish is thanks for your comments guys I think I'm going to go through with it ill need to find someone who can get me acouple yea krichardson I figured the tripletail would be difficult to get we do have a tripletail over here on the west coast believe it or not they hang under the kelp paddys off Newport and laguna beach my tank wasn't ready for them at the time.... The water was super warm that summer and they came up from baja haven't seen them since bummer guess ill have to make a trip down if anyone is interested in trading natives I would do that also
