Am I just making a mess?

I just got my first ray a month ago (thanks to trevamp) and he mostly eats worms.
I will throw a couple of massivore pellets in there with him and he pounces on the right away but he mostly just chews them up and spits them out.
Am I just making a mess or is this progress that you guys would suggest that I continue?

I would also like to add that it is not hard to clean up because my filter intake sucks it right up into a filter sock that gets changed once a day.

I would keep doing it. You might let them mix with the worms before feeding them

They might be too big for him. When I got smaller rays on it I broke the pellets in half. Also put a pellet or two in with some shrimp and water, let soak then add to tank

Teaching them to eat pellets starts with a mess. Pellets + Rays = messy water/tank but good filtration cleans it up fast.

Try the same make but carnivore tablets, they contain the same but are about quarter of the size.

Smaller is great. Also you can try breaking up the massivore. Your going to need the larger ones sooner or later.
