I feed my aro every morning. Starts with a few crickets and then some meal worms or shrimp ( i rotate the shrimp and meal worms ). When he gets meal worms, I give him about 6-10 pending on the size. And when he is fed shrip (frozen), its about 10 shrimp but they are kinda small.

but what he is doing these days, is around 10pm he comes to the corner of the tank and just looks at me. If I move he follows as if he is shadowing me. After a few mins of this and I still dont make any motions to feed him, he starts splashing water around with his tail. BUT once I give him a few crickets/meal worms, he goes back to swimming around like he normally does during the day.

So is it that I am not feeding him enough? Just want to make sure he doesn't get over fed. Oh and he is about 14".

Thanks!

You're feeding more than enough. There are people who feed every other day. Fish will do that. Follow u, begging for food. Just be happy he's not running away from u (being skiddish)

Don't worry, you cant over feed it. Just make sure all the extra food is eaten by the other fish. I have a 2 foot black thats a pig. I feed it aro sticks and massivor in the morning and market shrimp or Tilapia Fillet at night. My Aro always bites off more than it can eat. While it's pulverizing the fillet the smaller fish follow eating all the scraps.

Egon, what small fish are good for that? I have a black too and he messy. What small fish would be good to clean that up? I'm tired of having to scoop all this stuff out after his meals!

Aros are not like most of the other fish.. they do not stuff themselves.. they dont overdo it.. they will eat their fill and avoid what they cant or dont want.. seeing that with my aros everyday.. try feeding a little more.. till he ignores the food.. then you got your answer.. prob you can reduce say 5% to 10% of what really fills your aro up.. cheers
