I'm feeding my dat twice a day now, around 5-10 hikari sinking carnivores per feeding. Is this too much? His belly is pretty plump when he's done. Got him exactly one month ago today and I really thinking he's grown at least 1/2" with all the pellets and market prawn he's downing. Got him at around 2.5" now he's a little over 3" just measured but very thick.

It all comes down to preference. I feed 3times a week...Heavy feedings and then do a 50% water change. If your dat keeps eating it will stop when its full.

Lol. I feed my fishes 2-3 times a day. I thought that was normal.

Also have to remember the more you feed the more they will crap. You dont want your fish dying for a big ammonia spike either or a ph drop. Just keep that in mind if your feeding your fish alot.

I don't feed the whole tank twice, just the dat. It eats straight from my hand so it's easier than throwing in the pellets and hoping it eats some of them. I do W/C at least once a week, twice if its looking cloudy. He's in a 75 grow out with a bunch of fast eating fish (hence why hand feeding is necessary), filtration is an eheim pro and ac110. I'm hoping the power feeding will help it grow faster, especially since I'm using pellets as the main staple and not feeder fish, because I wanna throw a pbass and a big pike with him when I get my 240G in a couple of months.

The only thing I wanted to contribute is that I suspect that the more frequently a fish is fed, the more rapidy they pass food through their gut and the less efficiently it is digested. You can actually see a change in the composition of their feces. Also, as someone else mentioned, the more you feed, the more ammonia they produce. I feed my dats three time a week. Of course, they always want more but don't get it.
