have your heads exploded yet?...LOL sorry i had to

I rescued these fish from a 5 gallon tank with more sludge on the bottom of the tank than there was gravel..icky muddy water..and a large angel fish!!...AND a pleco..

the tank gets a 50% water change every day and a 90% every other day.
They are currently up for adoption on local sites.

every one has colored up amazingly in the short time iv had them in clean water (about 24 hours) I almost lost one of the Tiger barbs on the ride home but all seem fine. Sadly this was the only tank i had available for them. if they have not found a home in a few days ..ill find a place to set up a 10 gallon even if i have to clear off a night stand.
..anyway..just thought i would share.^_^!

yes you are over stocked please get them a larger tank. I would suggest at least a ten gallon, get the starter kit from walmart for thirty bucks. the buenos aire tetras look like they are about to bend in half. Good job on the rescue by the way always nice to see a fish get another chance

Extremely.
If you don't get them a 10+ gallon tank
They will die.
So be willing to buy another tank or please give the fish away. ( it might be to late because you may of stunted them )

p.s you can get a cheap tank off craigslist.

O.o.. calm down now..as stated they are going in to a 10 gallon

I have had these fish for less than 24 hours and this was WAAAAYY better than what they were in.

they are up for re homing as well.

figured a cramped clean tank for a few days was better than swimming in there own waste dieing.

Even if temporary means 2 months, as long as she/he keeps the tank pristine, the fish will do much better in a cramped 3.5 gallon than a 55 that has brown water and no aeration.

Water quality> size.

..my thoughts exactly!

but temporary is probably another day or so

theses guys from what i have read are nearly full grown..did some research last night they get about 3.5 inches from what i have read...do best in groups of 6 or more..and eat plants!.

when i got them they had no color what so ever..all silver with in a few hours in the tank they started getting color, these pics were about 20 hours after being in clean water and they have really colored up.

If i had space ..and a plantless tank i would keep them...but no room and love my plants!.
