Hey Guy's,

I have a 90 Gal tank with the following.....

2 12" oscars
2 6" jewels
2 6" Fire mouths
1 7" JAck Demp
1 12" sail fin Pleco
1 10" Feather fin Cat

I am running a relitvely small Eheim canister that i don't think is coping to well.

I am thinking about getting a FX5, Is this the best value fiter?

Am i over stocked???

I am thinking of getting rid of one of my oscars also.....

Thanks,
Brett

how big are they?
if fully or near fully grown then yes, by far.
if not then it depends how long they stay in there,

basically what i'm saying is they cannot all stay in there for life.

well then fro now i guess you're fine,
how's the agression level?

That's what concerned me. Those Oscars, the JD, and the smaller cichlids. My Oscar is fairly intolerant.

Only had a problem with my larger oscar towards the smaller one, hence the moving on one my smaller oscar, but last night the feather fin was going nuts chasing the jewels which is strange as he has always been placid (with the light on anyway) to everything in the tank.

An Fx5...although one of my favorite filters is a lot more than you really need in a 90 gallon tank. The fluval 405 is less than half the price and if used in conjuntion with a good HOB...(emporer 400 or ac 110) is all you really need.

I am a bit of a newb to filters etc so this will probably be a stupid question......

What is the difference between a bio and a mechanical filter and do i need the two??

I thought (Probably incorrectly) that a filter like the FX5 will do both?

Brett

Can i just take the smaller foam out of my current smaller eheim and use that as my Bio and add the FX5???

(Want to eventually get a bigger tank so want to get a the FX5 for when i do, so i know it is overkill for the 90)

Bump.....

I have a 2213 and pick up the fx5 next week.

Will i be better to run the two? the eheim for bio?

:nilly:

Thanks,
Brett
