I currently have 1 male bifa/possible vieja hybrid 10", 3 females of the same type ranging from 6-9", 1 female black belt 7", and 1 argentea 5". All in a 135g tank with a 75g sump. So my question to you is, does this seem like a bit much?
I've had a BB before that was a beast. He tore into a couple JD's twice his size. The female I have now seems calmer. But non the less, you are right. 6 fish that all have the possibility of getting over 12" will not all work in the long run. I think when that time comes I may trade them all in and just go with a pair of jags.
i would suggest staying with the veja family or maybe going for a pair of trimacs or something. But if you wanna stay in the parachromis family look into RTM, or freddys
Based on what I just experienced Id have to say yes, but you never know really. I think you definitely would be at maturity just based on bioload, but I honestly don't think you'll get there .......
if they are living together peacefully ok. adding more filtration would be good. the best tank set ups i ever had were always "overstocked"
but no aggression issues. really depends on the aggression of your fish. i have owned 5 bb with only 1 being aggressive. my current stock in my 125 is 7" argentea, 11" heterosplila, 5" syn bb pearsi carpintas and her. turq. and a 6' jd and 11" oscar. sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. i have a 40g in case there are problems. i have enough filtration for a 250g. i always double the "required" filtration
