Where the cheeseheads are..
Finally after 5 days of doin 2 X 50% WC daily, + biospira ,
the tank's ammonia rate seems to be at minimum (prob 0 )

tested the nitrite , and according to the charts, its not harmful

got pH as low as 7.2 and stable

so guys, is it good to go now ??

You are in too big a hurry, rays are sensitive. That tank needs to age.

Where are your rays?

Maybe you have them mixed up?

What is NitrAte? If you have nitrite readings you aren't ready ANY nitrite isn't good..... You want no nitrIte and no ammonia, But you want to see some NitrAte.

Err..... the rays are already in the tank actually...
It was a huge mistake because of my lack of research..
I didn't even know what cycling a tank means before everyone here keep reminding what a crappy raykeeper I am.. :D

Anyway, this was a new tank, and the rays were brought in last week..
there was ammonia spike since day 2, and.....
after constant WC and adding biospira,
today the ammonia reading is 0 , 12 hours after the last water change
there's still traces of nitrite but according to the test charts its not fatal,
and maybe it'll keep lowering tomorrow

I would also love to get as much info as I can on rays. I plane on getting 200g ish tank "180g to 240g" some time this year, most likely X-mas time and about this time next yaer I would like to be shoping for a ray or two. I know verey littel about them, so I would like to get as much info and help as I can get. Can i do rays in 180g? What are good tank mates? What tipe of rays should I get? Thank you.

Keep doing the water changes until you start to get nitrate readings and then you can slowly back off the changes making sure the ammonia stays 0 and the nitrite is barely traceable or 0.

Yes, please DONT REPEAT MY MISTAKE
Read the stickies carefully,
also you wanna check out the sticky in the 'Setup and Filtration' forum

i would wait a little still. adding more rays will prob cause another small ammonia spike. i would wait to make sure your rays make it ok and ur tank is fully cycled b4 adding more mouths to feed....
