Hello everyone I'm new to the stingray boards. I purchased 2 wildcaught Marble Motoro Stingrays in the summer of 2011. Had them for about 7 months now. I've been power feeding both of them but I've noticed my female is always looking for more food. The female is around 13" now and the male is 9". The male only can handle 10-11 thick dew worms for the whole day but the female eats about 13-14 and she still looking for more. These dew worms are at least 6-8" long and very thick. She's very active after she eats too like swims against my powerheads and out takes current while my male is lazy and stuffed after eating. Just wondering should i be feeding the female more?

Here is a short video of both my rays. This is taken right after feeding the last batch of worms for the day

he looks stuffed, she looks like she could take quite a bit more, by the looks of her "booty". she looks a bit small in the back end for just having been fed.

Ya they are stuck on live foods. I tried the starving method but no luck and the female got quite skinny from it. So I'm stuffing them up again before I give it another try. Like the male's back is puffed up like how ppl say Jennifer lopez booty but the female isn't. I feed 3 times a day of portions of 4-5 worms per feeding. Should I feed more portions less times a day? I just worry about a nitrite spike if I over feed all at once.

feeding them multiple times a day is fine. it really comes down to how much time you have available. my schedule doesn't allow that many feedings throughout the day, so i feed larger amounts.

mine just took to tilapia/sole filets after 2 yrs. they still eat earth worms too. that's fine for them, worms are quite nutritious.

the difference in size between the two also will play a part in how much they can each handle. being fed many times a day in smaller portions will have them digesting food fast and ready for more, so you'll see them take a lot each time.

Ya I feed once before I go to work, then feed again after work then once at night. Maybe I'll try bigger portions twice a day only. Thanks for the answers.

If she is still looking for more and her back isn't bulging at all then yes I would feed more. Try mixing what they like chopped up with tilapia or shrimp. Eventually they will come around and accept more foods. Good luck.
