i tried keeping pbass twice.
once with tems,one died of a parasite,other 2 eaten.
second time monos?/occells?/orinos? both recently died from unknown reasons.:irked:
do you think i'd be licky with larger ones?
im probably getting a 3-5 inch tem tommorow.
maybe i'll try again with some babies.
will update when i get them.

what is your water temp? how long has your tank been running? how many times a day are you feeding? do you have high nitrates? what are there tank mates? i have found that when they are really small ( real babies 1 1/2"- 2" - 2 1/2") they do better when they are kept with baby cichla of the same size. baby cichla are very sensitive to all of these conditions that i listed above. if you can keep babies then you are deff better off buying a 6-8 inch fish

problem is i can only find small ones round here. :(
but they do have 2 larger tems.
my tank has been running for many yrs.
non stop.
in fact,it was one of my first tanks.
nitrites 0
ammonia 0
nitrates 0
tankmates would be the feeders for them to free feed and other baby pbass.
my temp is 30 degrees celcius.
the only things that die in that tank are the feeders when they get eaten and my pbasses. :(

Be careful, your pbass could actually eat itself to death on those feeders. But then again I am a noob when it comes to pbass although i have raised largemouth and smallmouths for a couple of years.

eat itself to death??
thats probably what happened to my last few pbass?
cause i found them real fat.
problem is i dont have an extra tank to keep that many feeders.

you should feed your pbass one at a time. when he eats the frist one , then you throw another one in. if you train them from the start it will be easier to get them off live food alot faster. plus the feeders could have parasites which might be killing your pbass. everything is zero? what type of filteration do you have? how big is the tank? any pictures?

yea i have pics.
look around in the picture gallery.
i have 2 undergravel filters,a powerhead that suck the water into the urm...
watchacallit which spits the water back into the tank.
