So by accident today, I stumbled upon the coolest fish store ever, and no one I know even knew it existed. It is called Aquarium Outfitters (formely known as Athens Aquarium and Fish Store) and they have two locations. At their main location, they had over 10,000 gallons of usable space for their fish. Their two main attractions were a large custom built saltwater tank featuring a lot of large fish including a 30" Remora, and a large reef tank. They have hand picked corals and fish, they get weekly livestock, and they also do installation and maintenance. I got to meet the owner, and he was the nicest guy ever, and has just as much enthusiasm as the rest of us. They had moderate prices, but an amazing selection, and everyone working there is completely knowledgeable about almost everything in there. If you are in the Georgia area, I would highly recommend visiting one of the two facilities. They have one in Athens, and one in Loganvile. The Athens location address is 175-B Old Epps Bridge. Simply amazing.

P.S. I'll try to post pics later, I'm going back tomorrow.

yeah. i was at petco its only 1 block away,( hard to go 16 miles for just a can of flake food to the good little stores) anyways the guy who worked there reffered me to a new little shop. Atlantis Tropical fish. the store is owner oporated and he is into all the cool more exotics like most of the mfk members. he isnt bothered by me talking and asking a million questions. very knowledgable, BEAUTIFUL tank setups, and all the cooler fish that you definatly would NEVER find at a chain store... and its only about 10 miles away....anybody in Vegas needs to check this guys shop out.. not very big , but all the cool fish. :)

So today, I went bqck to the amazing lfs and took pics, I'll post them when I get to my apartment tomorrow. i went to their other location this afternoon and got the same impression. Great fish, great knowledge. The selection isn't as wide, as they are still making vast improvements to the store, but there is definitely more to come. I think I might pick me up some 3" pbass tomorrow, and grow them out for a while. They have a program where if you get a small fish from them and it gets too big for your tank, you can take it back and trade it for a smaller version of your fish (assuming I don't want to sell it). Is this a bad idea?
