Over the rainbow
One of things about the hobby which I find the most rewarding.... Bought this guy from my lfs for $5. He got beat up after trying to mess with a buttikoferi close to 3x its size. Owner didn't think he'd make it as he was breathing hard and laying down on its side.... 4 Months later.... He's kicking it with his gf :]

Moral to the story, don't give up your fish!!! There's always a chance

Nice job saving him. What was he living w/ to cause that damage?
Apparently he was beating the crap out of all fish he was in with so the guys at the lfs put him in a separate tank with a divider between him and a buttikoferi close to 3x its size. Needless to say, the divider fell down. They said that when they found him looking like that he was still trying to lock lips. Idk if it's because he's wild caught, but he's a stubborn one.

I've seen fish survive lots of stuff, for example when fishing in a local pond I saw a 4 inch largemouth with a really messed up spine,I thought for sure he would perish, but over the years ive seen him and he looks plump, despite his boomerang like back, last I saw him he was about 15 inches.

Good work with your Jag. I know what you mean about being rewarding. This is my male Festae I bought around May time, and how he is today. Makes you feel good
