thats what really surprised me...... i thought birds wanted nothing to do with their young once humans touched the bird... still surprised at the moms bravery too...:D
 
I like looking around "lounge" areas of forums like this to find fascinating stories, and this was one. I think that "Peeps" was a *female* black-chinned hummingbird, unless her head turned black later as she matured, making her a him after all. Black-chinned hummingbirds are very common here in the west. Note that YouTube videos download into your internet cache (if you're using Windows) and are disguised under the name "videoplayback". When the download is complete, rename them, add ".flv" at the end, and play them with any free FLV player.

This is my first post, and I have only small aquariums, but one can dream!
 
I think many people have encountered the "baby bird fell out of the nest" situation - one can only hope that they all turn out as well as this one did. Thanks for sharing Liz.
