How would a i go about setting up an amazionian biotope in a 150 gallon fishtank

research it and learn as much as you can about it. If you are planning a planted tank then you should seek advise in the planted tank forum, lots of info for beginners in the sticky's. The worst thing is to be lazy about research and only get partial or incorrect info.

okay and the fish in their are a Royal Plec(L330), 2 Orange Pikes, 3 severums, and 2 knifefish

you could put in low light plants like anubias are or egeria densa and put in too floating plants for make sure not too much light is taken by the low light plants or theyll get covered in algae

For amazon biotop..you could use amazon sword and mircro grass for plants. Some nice pieces of drift woods. If you have the budget, some store sell some nice 3d back ground with tree roots on it. They look pretty nice..but too damn expensive. You can also make a diy background with styrofoam.

Severums tend to eat plants and there is likely to be aggression if you have less than six. I have several in a big tank but there are no plants, only wood and pieces of bamboo. Sadly, a lot of interesting Amazon fish are plant destroyers: Pacu, Red Hooks, Silver Dollars, Some Leporinus and Anostomus, many S.A. Cichlids (Uaru love plants!), etc.
